Qualifications to Become A LACOSTA Janitorial Team Member

At LACOSTA, we take hiring very seriously. Whenever we hire janitorial team members, there are a series of core characteristics that we look for and value. Yes, janitorial work requires technical know-how, but that is something that can be learned. While there are a myriad of ways LACOSTA can help businesses, what truly sets our team members and each of our LACOSTA janitorial teams apart are the characteristics and work ethic they bring to the worksite each and every day.

In this article, we will be discussing the various characteristics we look for so that you can have a better idea of what it is that truly sets LACOSTA apart. After all, it’s our team members that make us who were are.

Collaborative

Collaboration is key in any janitorial team. It takes far more than one person to get the job done effectively and efficiently. While we value leadership and independent initiative at LACOSTA, we make sure this doesn’t get in the way of fostering a team-based work ethic.

Additionally, we value this not only in our entry-level janitorial positions but across our entire company. Everyone from our site managers to our district managers to our owners value collaboration and communication. It is what makes this all possible.

Attentive and Alert

Part and parcel of collaboration is communication, and in order for communication to be effective and efficient, our employees must be good listeners who pay attention to the details. And this doesn’t just apply to our employees who are taking direction from a site manager. Our site managers have to be attentive and alert when listening to the comments, concerns, and opinions of the staff members under their charge as well.

Being attentive and alert isn’t just important internally either. Our employees must be attentive and communicative with our clients as well. This is especially important for our site managers, who are constantly interacting with and coordinating with our clients’ worksite leadership. Whether our clients have to delay a cleaning procedure because of downtime, need extra special attention to be paid to a specific area, or just need general advice, our employees are responsive and conscientious of all their needs.

Meticulous and Detail-Oriented

The quality of a janitorial cleaning service job all comes down to the details. Anyone can wipe down a table – but can they be conscientious and detail-oriented enough to ensure the dwell time is correct to allow for a thorough cleaning of all the high-touch points, dust the hard-to-reach areas, and vacuum-tight corners?

At LACOSTA, we value hard workers who are meticulous and detail-oriented in everything they do. At the end of the day, it is what sets us apart. Our employees and staff go the extra mile to finish the job right. That means assessing how rooms need to be cleaned based on their experience and recognizing the spots that would typically go unnoticed.

After all, it’s the little things that turn a good cleaning job into a great cleaning job. And sure, you probably won’t notice that the small crevice in the window sill was dusted (a small detail indeed) – but, over time, you would definitely notice if it wasn’t! With LACOSTA, you don’t have to worry about these things. Our employees will worry about them and take care of them for you!

Independent and Self-Driven

We mentioned how important collaboration is at LACOSTA. But that doesn’t mean that being an independent, driven, self-starter isn’t important and valued. While collaboration is key, much of janitorial work is self-directed. There is nobody watching an employee each and every minute of every day to make sure they are dusting the office shades just right.

That is why we value independent and self-driven employees who take the initiative to make sure they are constantly improving their knowledge and their skills and working hard to provide a quality service for our clients. Yes, we conduct site audits and review our employees’ work – but the great thing about our employees is that this is almost always just a formality! Our employees value getting the job done right the first time around and then improving on it further the second, third, fourth, and every time thereafter.

Curious and Inquisitive

We are always trying to improve the service we provide to our clients and that is why we value curious and inquisitive employees who are interested enough and engaged enough in their work to ask questions like “how can this be improved?” and “what if we tried this?”

Indeed, some of the best developments in our practices have come from our innovative and forward-thinking employees, including everyday staff members, site managers, regional managers, and more! Everyone at LACOSTA is constantly working to provide to do the best possible job, and that means asking good questions that force us to constantly improve and consider our practices.

As we noted at the beginning of the article, janitorial services are something that can be taught, but these traits and characteristics are what set people apart when performing those services.
