LaCosta College
All supervisors & management personnel attend LaCosta College
annually. This week long intensive training program is a unique LaCosta
tool that trains and reinforces LaCosta’s best practices in the areas of
operations, safety and training. Recruiting and
orientation training
All LaCosta employees, including managers
and customer service personnel, undergo a demanding screening process,
skills assessment review and face-to-face interviews. Each newly hired
professional then completes the training orientation program at our
recruiting office. During orientation, new staff members learn
standardized methods and the proper sequencing of steps for every task.
Depending on their specialty, they may be instructed in housekeeping
services, floor and carpet care, moving and packing procedures, or a
specialty service. All staff members additionally receive standard safety
training and OSHA training. Our managers
evaluate each employee for prospective career advancement and develops a
Personal Improvement Plan (PIP) to help guide our employees career path
with LaCosta. With this tool, we identify areas of needed improvement such
as communication skills, leadership abilities, computer proficiency, and
language skills. We continually train and retain our employees by
promoting from within.
Site-specific training
Upon completion of orientation, all LaCosta staff members receive specific
job site training that focuses on the standards at the facility to which
they will be assigned. Site-specific training covers:
- Facility rules and layout
- Tailored procedural training, if it differs from
LaCosta's standard training
- The use of proper personal protective equipment
- Hazardous communication standards
- Material use
- And many other standards specific to your facility
Training tools
LaCosta uses video training tools, hands-on demonstrations, graphical
tools, web based training tools, and written testing to ensure that
personnel thoroughly understand procedures. Our vendor partners also
provide a wide variety of on-site training specific to chemicals &
equipment. Ongoing
training and updates
Review sessions are essential for keeping personnel on top of correct
procedures, whether for a specific work task or for safety. That is why
training is ongoing at LaCosta. Our Tool Box Meetings provide weekly
reviews of procedures, site-specific issues, as well as the study of one
module per week from our 52-Week Safety Training program. In addition,
we provide regularly scheduled updates to keep information current
regarding tools, equipment, techniques, and safety practices.
